I want to give a plug here for a man from my hometown Campbell River, whose guitar playing I have admired for many years. Whenever Lorne Jones joins in with our band during jam sessions or is onstage with ex-Northwest Company/ Blue Northern guitarist-singer Ray O’Toole, his country rock guitar picking is fantastic! This summer he released a CD ‘Tug Man’ as Lorne Jones And The Tugs(LJT 07) on which he plays and sings about his and his fellow tugmens’ lives on the tugs that ply the West Coast waters. Great looking 20 page booklet too with lots of colour photos of the rugged boats and men who man them,. There is one short guitar instrumental ‘Tugboat Breakdown’ where Lorne gets to strut his stuff.
